چکیده

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODSdWe examined 1,275 stable patients with diabetes mellitus undergoing elective diagnostic coronary angiography with cardiac troponin I (cTnI) levels below the diagnostic cut-off for defining myocardial infarction (,0.03 ng/mL). The relationship of subclinical myocardial necrosis (cTnI 0.009–0.029 ng/mL) with incident major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE; defined as any death, myocardial infarction, or stroke) over 3 years of follow-up was examined.

Detectable Subclinical Myocardial Necrosis Is Associated With Cardiovascular Risk in Stable Patients With Diabetes

OBJECTIVE To investigate the relationship between different degrees of subclinical myocardial necrosis, glycemic control, and long-term adverse clinical outcomes within a stable patient population with diabetes mellitus. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS We examined 1,275 stable patients with diabetes mellitus undergoing elective diagnostic coronary angiography with cardiac troponin I (cTnI) levels...

Subclinical myocardial necrosis and cardiovascular risk in stable patients undergoing elective cardiac evaluation.

OBJECTIVE The presence of subclinical myocardial necrosis as a prodrome to longer-term adverse cardiac event risk has been debated. The debate has focused predominantly within patients with acute coronary syndrome, and on issues of troponin assay variability and accuracy of detection, rather than on the clinical significance of the presence of subclinical myocardial necrosis (ie, "troponin leak...

Subclinical perfusion deficits in patients with Type 2 diabetes detectable with Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Background An estimated 200 million people worldwide have type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is recognized as an independent risk factor for adverse cardiac events, such as myocardial infarction. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death amongst diabetic patients. The subclinical pathophysiology of diabetic heart disease predicts global microvascular disease, prior to the onset of over...

Assessment of Subclinical Myocardial Changes in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease: A Case-Control Study Using Speckle Tracking Echocardiography

Background: Considering the association between cardiac abnormalities and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), the present study aimed to evaluate the relationship between biopsy-proven NAFLD and functional echocardiographic parameters, including left ventricular (LV) global longitudinal strain (GLS) in asymptomatic individuals. Methods: Thirty asymptomatic patients with liver biopsy-prov...

Prevalence of Cardiovascular Risk Factors, Reperfusion Therapy and Mortality in Patients With ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction in Elderly and Middle-ages

Objectives The prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors is different in the elderly and middle-aged. Therefore the present study aims to compare the prevalence of risk factors affecting ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), type of treatment, and mortality rate in these two groups. Methods & Materials This retrospective cohort study included 1 071 elderly and middle-aged ST-elevation my...
